Ruben Staub


The clarinettist, composer and arranger Ruben Staub was born in Frankfurt am Main in 1992 and currently lives in Berlin.

After finishing his Bachelor of Music at Hochschule für Musik Detmold with Prof. Thomas Lindhorst he moved to Berlin in 2017, where he graduated from his Masters degree at Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler studying with Prof. Martin Spangenberg, Prof. Ralf Forster and Prof. Jens Thoben in 2020.

During his studies he was able to work with renowned artists such as Sharon Kam, Giora Feidman, David Friedman and Maria Baptist as well as several orchestras including the Sinfonieorchester Münster, Dortmunder Philharmoniker, Kammerakademie Potsdam and Neue Philharmonie – who also featured him as a soloist on their concert tour throughout northern Germany. 

As a composer and player, Ruben explores the space in-between composition and improvisation, combining elements from several styles such as Jazz, World, Classical and Contemporary Music. On concert tours to India, Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Costa Rica and across Europe, Ruben has worked with a vast number of musicians from diverse musical traditions. Incorporating his classical background with his recent exchange of unique cultural backgrounds – Ruben takes his experiences to shape his musical language.
